'Better Watch Out' provides plenty of thrills for non-traditional Christmas film lovers.

For the past two years, Star Wars fans have been speculating on all of the questions J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens posed. Who are Rey's parents? Who is Snoke? Where the heck did the First Order come from?

'The Man From Earth' gets the Special Edition treatment. A strong story, lots of extras, but the remastered look isn't great.

Highly recommended, but be aware if you are considering taking younger children to see the film that it earns its PG-13 rating for violence and some scenes that may be emotionally upsetting.   

Patient, observant audiences get rewarded throughout the one hour and 59-minute running time where even paying attention to what’s on the television pay dividends.

'All the Marbles' is in the running to be nominated in the Academy Awards short film category. This film that has so much going for it, it’s a shame there are not a full slate of Academy Awards for short films. It would be in contention for all of them. The writing is perfect and delivers a surprise twist at the end. The acting is charming and just over-the-top enough for the fantasy genre. The technical work is superb on many levels.

Stellar writing, directing, and acting make the film worthy of the stellar video and audio.

The story is still as powerful as ever but now features worthy video/audio.

The Criterion Collection will release a special edition of Terry Gilliam’s Jabberwocky next week. The film, based on the poem by Lewis Carroll, takes us on a satirical adventure with medieval every-man Dennis Cooper, played by Michael Palin. Cooper is mistaken for a knight and finds himself defending the kingdom against a dragon – the Jabberwock – bent on destroying whatever lays in its path.
