Punk Rock

Young artists and veteran hitmakers alike created an abundance of memorable tunes in 2019. Post Malone, Jay Som, Beck, and Sharon Van Etten are among them.

Just in time for the 2020 Grammys, here is my annual list of top releases of 2019 (including Baroness, Lana Del Rey, Neil Young, Lizzo, and Slipknot).

'Angus After All' may not be the second release everyone was expecting from Aaron McMullan, but it is a brilliant piece of art.

The 40th anniversary of the Ramones live album 'It's Alive' will get you out of bed, into the shower, and dancing down the street.

Primal punk power propels Ezra Furman's 'Twelve Nudes" into the rarified atmosphere of The Clash's 'London Calling' as an era defining album.

Rocker Elliott Murphy shines on a new live album. Plus music from Ben Davis Jr., the Muffs, and Sunny War.

'I Sold My Soul To The Devil When I Was 12' from GRLwood is Queercore/punk at its finest, not a band to be messed with or an album to be missed.

Team Dresch have re-released and remastered, 'Choices, Chances, Changes', Captain My Captain', and 'Personal Best', three great examples of Queercore

'The Odessa Job' from VulgarGrad is one of those albums which are a sheer delight to listen to from beginning to end with enthralling music and vocals.

Gurr and Priests were among the bands performing on Tuesday, March 12 during South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.
