Soul

Vintage Trouble plays blues-rock and old-school R&B yet also sounds fresh. About to go on the road with AC/DC, this four-piece is my musical find of the year so far.

When the songwriting and his melodic and vocal talents click, they click securely, and sailing through the whole set is Rodriguez's fine voice, a pleasure to listen to whatever he's singing about.

I'm sure part of my positive response to Grimm's new album comes from the fact that I grew up listening to the kinds of music it pays tribute to. But another part of it arises from the high-quality songwriting and musicianship, the melodicism, the literate lyrics, and the strong vocals – a pretty powerful formula.

A veteran music journalist 'tells the full story of how the Beatles broke up, how the Stones achieved the greatest commercial success in rock history, and how the music business became what it is today.'

Chris Robinson Brotherhood serves up a second helping of 'Betty's Blends,' and it's delicious.

If you thought Alabama Shakes had a great debut album, their sophomore release 'Sound & Color' will only make you love this band more.

Plus Adam Lambert, The Who, Smash Mouth, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Esperanza Spalding, The Kentucky Headhunters, Nashville Pu$$y and more.

Boz Scaggs is as soulful as ever on this flawless and seemingly effortless new release.

Plus Christina Perri, Rob Thomas, The Plain White T’s, Nate Ruess of fun., The Smashing Pumpkins, David Sanborn, Mavis Staples, Jeff Beck, James Taylor, and More

SXSW Music Festival 2015 takes place March 17-22 in Austin, Texas.
