Drew Barrymore and Henry Thomas will appear on the red carpet Opening Night for the 40th anniversary screening of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

“E.T. is the perfect example of a modern classic movie that combines both innovative direction and heartfelt performances,” said Pola Changnon, general manager of TCM.

“Explain how your mother's talking on an iPhone in a picture taken in 1977!”

If you have never done so, sit down and watch this film with your kids (or your grandkids); you’ll be glad that you did.

Thirty years after its original release, Steven Spielberg's classic makes its high definition debut.
