The story of 'Beauty World' is dated, predictable and uninteresting, and the music is not memorable. But good singing and funny dialogue make this revival worth checking out.

For a modern theatrical audience who goes to the theatre to be entertained by a story rather than by a message, 'Battlefield' isn't going to satisfy easily. On the other hand, if you are someone who goes to the theatre to marvel at the language and meaning found in dialogue, this is a play you shouldn't miss.

This well-acted production is a collaborative project between Wild Rice's Ivan Heng who directs Singapore actors performing Malaysian texts and Malaysian theatre stalwart Jo Kukathas who takes the reins as director for Singapore texts performed by Malaysian actors.

'Quarters' has plenty of heart, but could've used some major script editing and trimming of characters to make it a tighter play and a better study of people living in close quarters.

All the singers were highly talented and excellent, but the stunner of the night had to be L.A. Benjamin. With her Whitney Houston-like gospel voice soaring effortlessly to the rafters, Benjamin's performance easily struck a chord with the audience's hearts.

Were the audience members who ran up on stage plants? Was the water really poisoned? Rather than find out, I think I'll let the final act's theme of "not knowing" linger a little longer.

When there is so little entertainment these days that an entire family can enjoy together, it is simply wonderful to have a production like 'Monkey Goes West' that will absolutely enthrall people of all ages.
